Presidents Message

WELCOME TO THE CITY OF CENTRAL

On behalf of the Central Chamber of Commerce, I would like to welcome all newcomers and visitors to the newest and 12th largest city in Louisiana.  Our chamber has experienced phenomenal growth in the last two years.  Increasing our membership from 65 to over 240 members, our rapid expansion can be directly attributed to the positive business environment in our new city.

While Central offers “Country Living in the City”, it also offers businesses the opportunity to be a part of the excitement and growth that our community is experiencing and will embrace in the future.  In 2006 the Louisiana Legislature and the voters of Louisiana overwhelmingly voted to create the Central Community School District here in East Baton Rouge Parish and offer many young families the opportunity to live in an area offering affordable housing and an excellent public education for their children.  The long awaited “Central Thruway” is well under construction and will offer quick access to the interstate system in the near future.  The fact that Central is only 20 minutes from the Baton Rouge airport is a great transportation asset for our community.

The Central Chamber has been a positive component in forming business and community relationships through its events during the year.  Monthly business meetings offer members the opportunity to network and form relations with their peers.  Our annual Prayer Banquet brings business leaders, parents and children together for the purpose of motivating and inspiring our students at the beginning of each school year.  Both the annual Golf Tournament and Mardi Gras Ball help bring the community together for fun and enjoyment while raising money for worthy causes; and The Christmas Parade and Business Expo help conclude each successful year for the chamber.

While we welcome you to our new city we also invite you to be a part of developing a community that will be cherished and enjoyed by generations to come.

Lucky Ross
President
Central Chamber of Commerce
